Software development service GitHub, owned by Microsoft, has released an AI powered tool that uses a language learning model to autocomplete whole blocks of standard code in different programming languages, potentially cutting programming times several fold.

The new tool, called Copilot, is built on technology from the OpenAI project, exclusively licensed to Microsoft, that suggests “whole lines or entire functions right inside your editor.” Sometimes, just providing a simple description is enough to generate an entire block of code.
